Women Encouraging Women: July 2008- 10 attendees. Baltimore, Md. This relax group came out in the heat as they sat around the pool of the host Sharmaine Henderson and chat about everyday life. One of the members who I will not identify spoke on a chapter that was close to her heart. Her imprisonment was something she never faced. She looked at her time in jail as something that happened and let it go. The book Girlfriend Circle she said made her cry, made her think, made her take a long look in the mirror as to stop and think, if she can not reframe from what she is doing to herself at least think of what it is doing to her children. The other members of the group, also shared on the powerful stories in the book. The over all welcome from this group made me take a look on how I am and to stop being angry with God when I stumble and praise him for being their to catch me and correct me. This group walked away with Miriam Walker-Smith winning a two night vacation for two, including round trip airfare. Miriam stated she have never been able to go away and seeing she have a few dollars hidden she is going to do redeem her prize and go enjoy herself taking along Girlfriends Circle to read for the 2nd time.
Sircles Organization- April 2008- 30 attendees, teleconference. The club has been gracious enough to organize their meetings to allow me to introduce myself and my book Girlfriend Circle. At a later date, I anticipate joining the members in person to review the book and celebrate being girlfriends. The overwhelming welcome made me feel like I was apart of the group. Stepping Out Book Club- December 2007- 11 attendees, group organizer: Melanie. This club won the contest that was running for December 2006: WIN A catered dinner with the Author
Women With Voices- March 2007- 6 attendees, group organizer: Tranay: Club contacted me to obtain a book for review and within a month, selected me to be apart of the book discussion. Upon taking the offer- I decided to treat these ladies to a buffet style feast of goodies.
Rainy Day Reading Group- June 2007- 7 attendees, group organizer: Skylar: club won, Dinner with the author at An All You Can Eat Resturant.
Divas By Day- 4 Attendees- October 2007- 9 attendees, group organizer: Beverly K: Club member was given the book for her birthday and decided to pick the book for her book discussion. In selecting the book, I decided to bring a Seafood & Fruit platter as a thank you.
